ⓘ What do the party and ideology labels mean?

On the ballot, partisan candidates run under a party — in Wisconsin almost always Democratic or Republican, with the occasional third-party or independent candidate. Words like progressive, conservative, libertarian, or democratic socialist are labels people use to describe themselves, not separate parties on the ballot. A label is a starting point; each candidate's sourced positions show where they actually stand.

ⓘ What is a voting record showing me?

A roll-call vote is a recorded yes/no vote in the legislature; 'aye' means yes and 'no' means no. A 'deciding vote' is one that changed the outcome. These are the candidate's actual recorded votes, linked to the official record.

    • Ballooning state budgets in Wisconsin are unsustainable, and it's irresponsible to assume all prior spending is good spending without measuring program effectiveness. I've authored a bill to reform our budget process by adopting a zero-based budgeting approach. Read more… https://mailchi.mp/legis/10-24-25-newsletter-1085903

    • Repealing the Governor's 400-Year Tax Increase We are living with the consequences of the Governor's partial veto of the previous state budget, which allows school districts to raise revenue limits by $325 per student each year without ever obtaining the approval of the people who will have to pay for this tax hike. This nefarious use of the line-item veto, in which the Governor intentionally altered the meaning of the Legislature's 2023-2025 budget, creates an increase in property taxes for property owners around the state for the next 400 years. Yes, you read that right. 400 years. It's an unconscionable abuse of power. I recently authored legislation, along with Representative Dave Maxey, to undue this partial veto and protect families, seniors, and others on fixed income from this political maneuver that will take from their bank accounts the rest of their lives, the rest of their children's and grandchildren's lives, and from multiple generations to come. The bill simply strikes the part of state law that allows for the per-pupil increase over the next four centuries. It's a no-brainer for Republicans and Democrats alike to rally around this common-sense bill, which protects millions of property owners across the state.

    • "One of the largest food stamp frauds in U.S. history." It's great to have USDA leadership hyperfocused on eliminating an estimated $40-$60 billion PER YEAR in SNAP fraud. Do you realize how much money $60B is? There are 93 countries in the world whose entire economy is less than that. And it doesn't even count the waste I'm trying to tackle here in Wisconsin—like putting an end to using SNAP dollars for candy and soda.

    • Wisconsin Republican State Senator who believes government is the problem, not the solution. Working toward repealing Gov. Evers' 400-year property tax increase, refunding the state's surplus to taxpayers, eliminating the state income tax, lowering utility costs, and replacing welfare with work.

    • Wisconsin Republican State Senator who believes government is the problem, not the solution. Bureaucrats and special interests hate that I see you, the voter, as my boss. Voted "NO" on the 2025-2027 state budget and its obscene spending, lack of transparency, and new fees and taxes that raise the cost of living on Wisconsin residents. Working toward budget reform, replacing welfare with work, eliminating the state income tax, and technological innovation to make government smaller and more efficient.
