ⓘ What do the party and ideology labels mean?
On the ballot, partisan candidates run under a party — in Wisconsin almost always Democratic or Republican, with the occasional third-party or independent candidate. Words like progressive, conservative, libertarian, or democratic socialist are labels people use to describe themselves, not separate parties on the ballot. A label is a starting point; each candidate's sourced positions show where they actually stand.
How we do this →ⓘ What is a voting record showing me?
A roll-call vote is a recorded yes/no vote in the legislature; 'aye' means yes and 'no' means no. A 'deciding vote' is one that changed the outcome. These are the candidate's actual recorded votes, linked to the official record.

Had real good conversations at the Chamber of Commerce's Legislative update forum. I appreciated the opportunity to connect with community leaders, and small business owners to discuss the issues impacting our region. These conversations are invaluable as we work together to build a stronger future for our community.

These days, everything is pricier than it was the day before. You feel it at the grocery store. You feel it at the gas pump. And you feel it when paying your property tax bill. But it doesn't have to be this way. Wisconsin has a budget surplus that we need to put to work for you. Cutting property taxes, lowering the cost of healthcare and working with farmers and grocery stores to make food more affordable. Food, Shelter and Medicine — It's time the necessities felt more affordable.

I want to make sure everyone has the same opportunities here that I did. That's why I've worked to support our schools, to make housing more affordable, to support local businesses, and defend our kid's opportunities. That's how we keep Wisconsin strong. I'm committed to our roots, and to making Wisconsin a place where every family can thrive.

I'm a fourth generation La Crosse County resident. I was born here. I raised my family here. And I started my own business here. I know what folks mean when they say times are tough. I feel it too. That's why, when I go to Madison, I'm doing everything I can to make Wisconsin, and especially the Coulee Region, an affordable place to live, work and play.

Throughout my time in the Wisconsin legislature, I've stayed focused on what matters most to Western Wisconsin — namely, making sure folks have good, family supporting jobs, ensuring our public schools have the resources they need and keeping our roads in good shape. I'm proud of my proven track record of bipartisan public service. But there's more to do and I'm ready to get back to work.

My friend, John Smith wrote a moving song about the trying times facing our country today. Two and a half centuries in, America remains undefeated. We see the cracks, and we still bet on the future. Our country’s defining trait is a refusal to stop striving for a better tomorrow. Our name is America.

For the first time in 50 years, researchers are conducting a comprehensive study of the Upper Mississippi River in the La Crosse area. This important work will provide valuable insights into the health of our river, helping us protect a resource that supports recreation, wildlife, tourism, and our local economy for generations to come.

Congratulations to the City of Onalaska on the grand opening of the expanded Dash Park and its new amenities. Investments in our parks and public spaces improve quality of life, provide opportunities for families to stay active, and help make our communities great places to live, work, and raise a family.

La Crosse being ranked the second-best small city in Wisconsin to start a business is a testament to the hardworking entrepreneurs, workers, and community leaders who make our region strong. Our local economy continues to grow because of the people who invest in and believe in Western Wisconsin.

Our taxpayers need relief, our state coffers have the resources needed to tackle these concerns, and we know based on the success of this session’s budget negotiation that if we put everyone in the room we can get things done. Three months ago we were called into a special session and we almost got the job done. I’m asking Gov. Tony Evers and the legislative leaders to call us back into special session, lock us in a room if necessary, and let’s get the job done once and for all. You can read my full op/ed here:

Thank you to all the local law enforcement agencies and community organizations that came together to put on National Night Out events across our region! It was great to get out to multiple communities and talk with neighbors about the issues that matter most to them. Conversations like these help build stronger, safer, and more connected communities.

One in 10 families are missing meals. One in three people have postponed medical care. All because they can’t afford it. We have a $2.5 billion surplus that we could put together right now if we were called into a special session. But the chamber is empty. I’ve called on the governor and the Republican legislative leadership to bring us back into special session — lock us in there if we have to — but let’s get this done.

Just like my parents, my wife and I worked two jobs to put food on our table. Now I’m watching my kids work hard to keep food on their table. But putting food on the table costs more than ever before. The goal of every parent is to leave the world a little bit better for their kids. That’s why, when I go to Madison, I’m doing everything I can to make Wisconsin an affordable place to live, work and raise a family.

State tax collections continue to come in higher than projected. We need to put that surplus to work for Wisconsin families as soon as possible!

Today, the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau revised their estimate for Wisconsin's tax collections. Wisconsin now has a $3 billion dollar surplus instead of a $2.5 billion dollar surplus. And at the same time, folks are still skipping meals and medical care because they can't afford them. I am renewing my request that the Governor and legislative leaders bring us back into a special session so we can use this surplus to help Wisconsinites today!

Western Wisconsin was built by working people. I am proud to have earned the endorsements of unions representing workers across the 94th in this race. In Madison I will continue to fight for an economy that works for all. Happy Labor Day!

Three billion dollars. That is Wisconsin's new projected budget surplus and it works out to be about five hundred dollars for every man, woman and child in the state. Five hundred dollars won’t solve all of our affordability problems, but it would help a lot more in your pocket than in the state’s bank account. The State Assembly adjourned for the year in February. That’s right – they told us to go home after only two months. We came back in May to try to reach an agreement to give your money back to you, but that effort reached a stalemate. So, now we’re done? I have called upon Speaker Vos and the Republican leadership to bring us back into session to finish the job. So far, nothing. I’m willing to drive back to Madison tomorrow to return your money.

These days it feels like we're all trying to dig ourselves out of a hole. I'm a problem solver. I work with people to find solutions. And I'm ready to do that in the State Assembly. Let's dig out of this together.

Have you noticed how politicians prey on emotion to influence voters? They'd rather evoke an emotional response than tell you what they plan to do if elected. I'm gonna cut taxes, lower healthcare costs and hold big tech accountable. My baby alpaca Pasta and I really hope you don't fall for emotional appeals.

While some politicians try to “trick” you with their nasty ads, my alpaca, Pasta, and I think you deserve to be “treated” with the truth. So here's what I'll do if I'm reelected: return the state budget surplus to you, cut taxes, and hold big tech accountable.
