ⓘ What do the party and ideology labels mean?
On the ballot, partisan candidates run under a party — in Wisconsin almost always Democratic or Republican, with the occasional third-party or independent candidate. Words like progressive, conservative, libertarian, or democratic socialist are labels people use to describe themselves, not separate parties on the ballot. A label is a starting point; each candidate's sourced positions show where they actually stand.

Planting yard signs and knocking doors in Pewaukee today. Almost 100 doors knocked this morning and we were hearing lots of concerns about the cost of living, furor about the administration in Washington, DC, and as a result—plenty of support for David Crowley for Governor and Josh Kaul for Attorney General! It’s always good to meet new people, and hear your concerns. Thank you for taking the time to talk💜 And now off to a community event! Happy Wednesday, everyone!

ENDORSEMENT ALERT 🔥I love teachers! I’m so grateful to have the support of Wisconsin’s educators and WEAC in our race for State Senate! 🍎 Our teachers and school staff show up for Wisconsin kids every single day, often doing far more with far less than they should have to. They deserve a state legislature that shows up for them, too. 🍎 I’ll always fight for strong public schools, the educators who make them great, and making sure every kid in Wisconsin has the opportunity to succeed. 🍎 So proud to have Wisconsin educators in our corner. Let’s go win this thing!

ENDORSEMENT ALERT🔥 Thrilled to have the support of Clean Wisconsin Action Fund! Wisconsin is home. Our lakes, our rivers, our parks, our farmland. Protecting this place we love is important to me. I’ve spent my time in the Assembly fighting for clean water, clean energy, and lower energy costs for Wisconsin families. And now, everyone is worried about Hyper-scale Ai data centers coming into our communities, and so am I—especially since Republican lawmakers refused to pass legislation this session that would regulate these data centers, and protect Wisconsinites. I’m fighting to make sure Big Tech pays its own way instead of leaving families to pick up the tab, and I won’t stop fighting for Wisconsinites. I’m grateful to have Clean Wisconsin Action Fund in this with us 💚

Every campaign I am reminded that this race is not about me. It’s about you. Your values. Your communities. Your needs. As our team travels the district, here are your neighbors sharing what matters to all of us. Meet Erik, who talks about what it means to him to have a representative who is strong, empathetic, cares about her constituents, and doesn’t forget the people she represents. Thank you, Erik!

Katie | Faces of the 5th Meet Katie! As we run around the district this year, we are asking—what matters to you when you vote this November? Katie cares about quality, affordable healthcare; every child’s constitutional right to an adequately funded public education; and women’s rights! I’ve authors various bills supporting education, including the Save Our Schools bill with a 90% special education reimbursement rate—and that bill would stop the statewide school operating referendums, and halt the spikes in related property taxes. I’ve also co-authored various bills related to Women’s Rights, including the right to access quality healthcare—like Restore Roe; expanding access to fertility care; the Perimenopause & Menopause Education bill; and we finally won the fight to pass postpartum Medicaid expansion, and Gail’s Law to expand access to breast cancer screenings for women at high risk. Let’s keep focusing on our shared values!💕

We Know What We’re Fighting For This November. The attack ads are ramping up. So what do we do? We remember who we are fighting for, and why. I got into this work because I care about the future of every Wisconsinite. I care that every child has access to an excellent education, a safe and healthy community to grow up in, and a future they can afford. What joy to be involved in this work! So when it gets nasty in the mailbox, on the tv, or in the comment sections, let’s remember who we are fighting for, and why. Politics is about people. And we are worth fighting for💕

There are a few things I simply refuse to accept when it comes to our kids🍎 -Kids going hungry. -Lack of access to mental healthcare. -Families wondering whether their child will be safe at school. -Teachers feeling devalued or leaving because we won’t invest in them. -Underfunded schools. -Taxpayers being forced to raise their own taxes because the legislature hasn’t upheld its constitutional duty to fund the public schools. It’s time for a comeback. It’s time to rebound from the choices made by the legislature the last 15 years. It’s time for Wisconsin to look & feel more like Wisconsin again. I’m the daughter of a public school teacher, the wife of a professor, the mother of two kids whose lives were shaped by their education and educators, and fighting for public education will always be personal to me. I’ve spent my time in the Legislature pushing for more adequate school funding, more support for special education, school mental health, safe classrooms, support for our brilliant educators, and opportunities for our kids long after graduation. I refuse to lower my expectations for Wisconsin’s kids. They deserve our very best. And I’m going to keep fighting for Wisconsin families. You can read more about my education policy on my website (link in bio). Share this post with a teacher, parent, student, or voter! We have lots of work to do🍎

90%. A few years ago, I introduced my Save Our Schools bill because I was watching our public schools struggle while families across Wisconsin were being asked to raise their own property taxes through referendum after referendum just to keep their schools going. My bill would raise the state’s special education reimbursement rate to 90%, tie per-pupil funding to inflation so our schools don’t keep falling further behind, and invest in the next generation of teachers. The first time we introduced it, it never made it to the Governor’s desk. So I brought it back. Because our kids are still here. Our teachers are still doing the work. And our schools still need us to show up for them!! And we HAVE made progress. We’ve fought for increases in special education funding, and every increase matters. But our schools were promised a 42% reimbursement rate in the most recent state budget and ultimately learned they would receive about 35% this year. That’s nowhere close to 90%. When the state doesn’t pay its share, that cost doesn’t disappear. Our local schools have to find the money somewhere else. I’m proud of how far we’ve pushed this conversation. But I’m not done. 90%. Our kids are worth keeping the promise🍎

Wisconsin is home. I want to protect what makes it such a beautiful place to call home. 💚 That’s why I’ve worked to protect clean water from PFAS and other contamination, preserve our parks and public lands through the historically bipartisan Knowles-Nelson program, invest in clean energy and safer ways to walk and bike in our communities, propose legislation through our Forward on Climate workgroup and legislative package, and demand real accountability from massive data centers using our water and electricity—and very possibly threatening public health. 💚 I believe Wisconsin can grow without asking families to sacrifice our land, our water, our health, or our pocketbooks to do it. For the love of Wisconsin, I’ll continue to fight for all of us in the state legislature—whether that means taking on Big Tech to protect Wisconsinites, pushing for policies that make our lives healthier and better, or prioritizing environment protection and climate action in the next state budget. Because we are worth fighting for💚 🌎See more on my climate policy page on my website: https://www.robynforwi.com/care-for-our-climate/ 🌎Or my policy page related to the quickly evolving concern of data centers, and how we need to urgently respond to Republican lawmakers’ refusal to protect Wisconsinites: https://www.robynforwi.com/data-centers/

There is something special about the first week of school ✂️✏️🍎💛 New backpacks. First-day photos. Nervous kiddos walking through new doors. Teachers welcoming classrooms full of students they will spend the next year encouraging, challenging and caring for. Our public schools are at the heart of our communities, and the people inside them deserve more than our gratitude. They deserve our investment. I believe in FULLY funding our public schools, supporting our educators, investing in special education and mental health, and making sure every kid has the opportunity to thrive (no matter their ZIP code!)🍎 To every student, parent, teacher, school staff member and bus driver and crossing guard starting another year: I’m cheering for you! For the love of Wisconsin, let’s fund our public schools 💙 I’ll be sharing lots of content this week of what I’ve been working on in the Assembly to ensure we make that happen and my plans to continue the fight in the Senate! You can also read my policy on my website or click the link in my bio. And as always, you can click over to my official side and scroll thru years of my work—we try to keep it lighter and more fun over at this account, but plenty of history and content lives over at State Rep. Fifteen years ago, my husband and I packed up our two little kids and drove to Madison to protest Act 10, cuts to our public schools, and attacks on Wisconsin workers. We marched around the Capitol with our kids, demanding better for Wisconsin’s public schools and the people who make them work. Seven years later, when Republicans still weren’t doing right by our public schools, I ran for office. I flipped a Republican-held seat and went to Madison determined to be a very loud voice for Wisconsin kids, educators, and families. And I hung my Love Wins protest sign over my my desk in my Capitol office where I now work—an ever present reminder of what we are fighting for, and how long we have been in this fight. Now 15 years after Act 10, we have an opportunity to write a very different chapter for Wisconsin. We have the chance to elect a Democratic trifecta and finally have a state government ready to make the investments our public schools have been waiting far too long for. Imagine what we could do for our kids. For our teachers. For special education. For school mental health. For the future of public education in Wisconsin. I’m so grateful to have two incredible women standing beside me in this fight, Senator Tammy Baldwin and Congresswoman Gwen Moore, who have spent their careers fighting for Wisconsin families and our public schools in Washington. I know what brought me into this fight. And 15 years later, I’m as determined as ever to finish what we started. Let’s win on November 3rd💙

The billionaires want to buy Wisconsin, and we must stop them. Wisconsin is not for sale. Not only are 3 billionaires essentially funding the campaign for the Republican candidate for Governor, they’re also trying to buy seats in the Legislature. Life is unaffordable right now and people need help. Costs have risen to a level that I’m hearing daily from people who can’t afford food. Healthcare, housing—including property taxes, childcare, gas, food, utilities and more have all become impossible for many people to afford. We need change. We need legislators focused on creating change in Wisconsin. We need to work for a Wisconsin that works for everyone. We need to elect new leadership and turn the page on this affordability nightmare. We need a new day in Wisconsin💛🧡💚💙💜

Healthcare comes up at doors ALL the time. And last week, I got to hear about it from another perspective —our local small business owners! Main Street Alliance brought us together for a roundtable to talk about what it means to provide healthcare, afford healthcare, and run a small business at the same time (hint: it’s not easy)💚 As a small business owner myself, a lot of what I heard hit close to home. These are real challenges for people who are working hard, creating jobs, and investing in our communities. They deserve solutions that actually make their lives healthier, more affordable, and easier!! Thank you to everyone who joined us. And a huge thank you to Main Street Alliance, not only for bringing us together but for endorsing our campaign 💙 Let’s win the majority and pass: ✅Badgercare Public Option ✅Go Big for Small Business (my portal bill) ✅Childcare funding to get costs down for working families

Politics can be hard. 🧡 There are days when the news feels heavy and the world feels even heavier. 💛 And then there are days like this. Kids covering the sidewalk in chalk. Crafts everywhere. People laughing. Neighbors meeting neighbors. A whole lot of joy in the middle of a really important election. 💜 Our campaign has always been about fighting for the things we love. Our kids. Our schools. Our communities. Our neighbors. ❤️ So yes, we’re going to work hard. We’re going to knock the doors, make the calls, have the tough conversations and fight with everything we have for what we believe in. 💚 But we’re also going to make room for some chalk, some crafts, some laughter and a whole lot of love along the way. We talked about protecting Pewaukee Lake from legislation pushed by Republicans last session, valuing science and scientific research, reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy, concerns about the unnecessary and illegal war America is currently engaged in (I hear this a lot from all sides of the aisle), the dysfunction of government and how to fix it, and more! Every child in Wisconsin has a constitutional right to an adequately funded public education, and for the last 16 years the Wisconsin state legislature has failed to uphold that right. Local communities statewide have been pushed to raise their own taxes to close gaps. As a result, property taxes have risen across the state. This was made even worse when last July the Republican majority refused to increase funding for “general aids”—an intentional act to drive up property taxes for their own political ambition. Imagine raising your hand to swear you’ll serve your constituents and honor the constitution and then using your power for your own political gain. But decisions like these are no longer protected by a gerrymander— the people can speak up now at the ballot box. In 14 days the polls will close and Wisconsin can usher in a new day, and new leadership that will adequately fund the public schools, invest in childcare, and roll back these property tax increases as quickly as possible. The 16 years of a Republican majority can come to an end in 14 days. You have the power to make that change. VOTE💙🇺🇸❤️

Erin | Faces of the 5th Elected leaders need to show up for their constituents—we all deserve that. Meet Erin and hear how Rep. Robyn Vining showed up for her in her most serious time of need— during the August 2025 floods. Rep. Vining went on to coauthor a bill that funded assistance during these types of catastrophes. The Republican majority refused to pass this bill, and instead has turned it into a political football—playing games with the most serious moments and needs in people’s lives. Let’s show these Republican lawmakers that we don’t want a divide-and-conquer legislature anymore, nor a legislature that plays political games with our lives. Let’s stand up, Wisconsin, and elect serious, genuine leaders like Robyn Vining, to go to Madison and fight for us. Robyn has always been that leader, and fighter, so let’s make her our Senator. Love wins, and so will we💙
