Beyond the Boxes: My Path to U.S. Congress. Redefining Conservatism on My Own Terms. Unapologetic, Authentic, and Conservative. Upholding the Promise of the Constitution. In Wisconsin’s 178 years of statehood, 188 individuals have served in the U.S. House. Did you know that for those 178 years, the record of those elected as Republicans (115) has been consistent: exclusively white and exclusively male? I am the first to even dare to run for U.S. Congress as a brown, Hindu, legal immigrant, a woman, an Indian American, a centre-right conservative, a Lincoln Republican—from Wisconsin— even in this climate of white christian supremacists' hostile takeover. No, I do not fit any "boxes," and I dared to be a "conservative", and remain one, in a district where the status quo prefers silence and compliance. I am a Lincoln Republican—a centre-right conservative promoting freedom, equality, justice, and dignity for all. FOR ALL. YES. My policies stem from my faith and heritage, which teach that the world is one family. This philosophy contrasts sharply with the Western ideology rooted in Abrahamism—an ideology that has historically promoted exclusivism, expansionism, violence, and the looting of resources to occupy others' lands. This is the origin of the abuse I face. I am told that "Indians are stealing jobs," that we are "fraudsters," "scammers," "filthy," "dirty", "false God worshippers", or "demon worshippers." I am told to "go back to India." Their hate is inevitable, and I have been warning about this for quite some time. Not a single comment misses an opportunity to harass or ridicule my faith, my heritage, and my ethnicity. They view me through their own lens—a lens of land-grabbing, resource-looting, and forced conversion—NOT MY LENS. I did NOT come to America to steal jobs or land, nor to convert anyone to my faith. I was drawn to the promise (although now proved to be a false one) that in America, one would not be forced to change who they are. My career brought me here; it was neither calculated nor planned. Christian conversion has been rampant in India for decades, and yet, none of us ever blinked an eye. The slurs and hate-filled rhetoric directed at me are not random; they are a window into the predatory mindset I refuse to accept. I am UNWILLING to be intimidated by such abrahamic predatory rhetoric. I am running in a heavily Democratic district—AS A CENTRE-RIGHT CONSERVATIVE, LINCOLN REPUBLICAN—because I refuse to be defined by partisan labelling or political gatekeepers. I am here to serve as a fellow human, staying true to my identity with pride (I have zero desire to convert to any Abrahamic faiths regardless of intimidation, terror, horror or fear), and to champion these core principles—despite the slander. I am navigating a path that no predecessor has successfully traversed to the House floor from Wisconsin, and I do so because I believe in the strength of these principles. It is time for a new kind of leadership that reflects the true promise of America, written in our Constitution. I believe the Constitution is not a decoration or a shiny marketing gimmick to organise rallies for a political power grab, but a guiding principle that allows us to shape our society.
