ⓘ What do the party and ideology labels mean?

On the ballot, partisan candidates run under a party — in Wisconsin almost always Democratic or Republican, with the occasional third-party or independent candidate. Words like progressive, conservative, libertarian, or democratic socialist are labels people use to describe themselves, not separate parties on the ballot. A label is a starting point; each candidate's sourced positions show where they actually stand.

    • Brodhead, Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade was a big success! Lots of candy thrown out to the hundreds of people on the sidewalk. Many tractors and home made floats. My campaign truck fit right in. Several Dairy Queens sitting on convertibles. The rain held off and all seemed to have a good time, especially the children. A small town classic. Happy Birthday America!

    • We have a housing crisis in Wisconsin that affects two major groups of people, young adults trying to buy their starter home, and seniors trying to keep the home they earned over a lifetime of hard work. Last Sunday in New Glarus, 40 neighbors showed up to talk about those issues. Seniors in our 50th District are afraid to open their tax bills each December. Young families can’t afford to get their foot in the door. That’s why I am running for Assembly in Green County and Southwestern Dane County.

    • We are holding a picnic at the Village Park in New Glarus at noon on Sunday June 28--that's right this coming Sunday. There will be several speakers discussing the needs of people in Green County. I will address my commitment to see to it that we enact a Property Tax Freeze for Targeted Seniors. This is part of my Restore Wisconsin Platform.

    • Rising property taxes are forcing seniors on fixed incomes out of the homes they've lived in for decades. It's unfair. Young people can no longer afford to build a starter home. Jon Aleckson, if elected to the Assembly, is committed to a targeted property tax freeze for seniors. Jon also has a plan to get more starter homes moving again. Jon is running for Assembly 50 which includes Southwestern Dane County and all of Green County. This includes the Villages of Oregon, Belleville, New Glarus, Monroe, and Brodhead, Wisconsin.

    • What a fantastic morning in Monroe! I had the pleasure of sitting down with the Monroe Chamber of Commerce team and left truly energized by their passion for this community. A huge thank-you to Executive Director Marcey Ciaccio for the warm invitation and for walking me through the Chamber’s mission and the great work they’re doing alongside partners like Main Street Monroe and the Green County Development Corporation. In the photo (front to back): Executive Director Marcey Ciaccio, Chamber President Angie Parr (Bank of New Glarus), Development Manager Malika Jubeck, and Events Manager Sandi Thomas. And that’s me on the end — Jon Aleckson, candidate for State Assembly. Grateful for the conversation, the hospitality, and the chance to learn from people who are clearly all-in on making Monroe and Green County thrive. Looking forward to more visits and more partnerships ahead! #MonroeChamber #MonroeWI #GreenCounty #WisconsinTogether

    • Remember during Covid when Canada froze the trucker's bank accounts? What if you went to your bank tomorrow and found every account frozen — your cash unavailable? It happened. Through government pressure your accounts can be locked… because of your beliefs, job, politics, or associations. I’m Jon Aleckson, elect me to the Wisconsin State Assembly and I’ll fight for a law: no official can pressure a bank to freeze your account without a judge’s order. Your money. Your rights. Protected.

    • My thoughts on AI and Data Centers. We must demand strict state laws for data centers that protect people and the environment. That’s what I’ll do if elected to the Assembly. Data centers must pay for all their energy and water. Closed-loop recycling of water. Strict noise limits. Power, they generate should lower costs for families—no cost-shifting. However... We must prepare our workforce with training for the AI impact on the jobs of tomorrow.
