ⓘ What do the party and ideology labels mean?
On the ballot, partisan candidates run under a party — in Wisconsin almost always Democratic or Republican, with the occasional third-party or independent candidate. Words like progressive, conservative, libertarian, or democratic socialist are labels people use to describe themselves, not separate parties on the ballot. A label is a starting point; each candidate's sourced positions show where they actually stand.

Today, as I am doing doors in Horse Creek, I’m calling on the members of the State Legislature to pass LRB 6903/1, which would eliminate the sales and use tax exemptions for data centers. As I’ve said before, I believe that zoning and construction of data centers should be a local control issue, which is why I support the decision of both the Bayfield and Polk County Boards to issue a moratorium on data centers. But if a community does want to build a data center, they should be able to rely on the tax base that comes with it – rather than continuing to line the pockets of tech billionaires. If I had been serving during the previous legislative session, I would not have supported the inclusion of these tax exemptions in the biennial budget. While there is certainly a time and place for tax incentives for businesses and industries, I think Big Tech can afford to pay their own way if they are going to build data centers in Wisconsin.
