ⓘ What do the party and ideology labels mean?

On the ballot, partisan candidates run under a party — in Wisconsin almost always Democratic or Republican, with the occasional third-party or independent candidate. Words like progressive, conservative, libertarian, or democratic socialist are labels people use to describe themselves, not separate parties on the ballot. A label is a starting point; each candidate's sourced positions show where they actually stand.

ⓘ What is a voting record showing me?

A roll-call vote is a recorded yes/no vote in the legislature; 'aye' means yes and 'no' means no. A 'deciding vote' is one that changed the outcome. These are the candidate's actual recorded votes, linked to the official record.

    • Yesterday, I cast one of the most meaningful votes of my time in office: YES on AJR-010. During the pandemic, we witnessed something that should never happen in Wisconsin or America. Places of worship were forced to close. Church services were interrupted by law enforcement. At a time when people needed faith, community, and spiritual guidance the most, the government told them they couldn't gather. AJR-010 sends an unmistakable message that the government may not close or forbid gatherings in places of worship, even during a state of emergency. Our Constitution protects the freedom to worship, and that freedom should never be treated as optional. Many Wisconsinites turn to their church, synagogue, mosque, or faith community in moments of crisis. This vote stands up for mental health, religious liberty, and the fundamental rights that define who we are. Last session, SJR 54 passed both houses and became Enrolled Joint Resolution 11 for its first consideration. Now that AJR-010 has passed the Assembly, if it passes in the Senate this session, it will be placed on the ballot this November for Wisconsin voters to decide. I stand firmly behind this resolution and will continue fighting to protect the freedoms we all cherish.

    • Yesterday marked a humbling milestone as I received my first ceremonial pen, a symbol of my first bill signed into law, Assembly Bill 346. Having my family there to witness this moment made it even more special. This law will allow owners of motor trucks, truck tractors, and trailers that meet certain weight requirements to register them as a single fleet if they have 10 or more vehicles. This will simplify and streamline registration for businesses that operate multiple heavy vehicles. It is an honor and a privilege to work on your behalf. Even in a divided government, I have proven that we can get things done.

    • I'm proud to announce that Officer Tyler Thornborrow has been named the 2025 First Responder of the Year for the 6th Assembly District! Officer Thornborrow serves as a School Resource Officer with the Shawano Police Department and Shawano School District, and his dedication to our students is truly remarkable. He created the "We Need You Here" campaign to promote student attendance and show every young person that they matter and belong. He's partnered with local businesses to provide rewards and mentorship opportunities for students. Officer Thornborrow personally mentors at-risk students, helping many find their path to graduation. He's connected young people with jobs that build confidence and life skills, and countless graduates have returned to thank him for believing in them during their toughest times. His initiatives reach students at every level. At Hillcrest Elementary, for example, he created a program where kids earn one-on-one time with him for positive behavior. Through his partnership with McDonald's, he delivers Happy Meals to students personally. These small moments make a big difference, helping children feel seen and valued. Officer Thornborrow is more than a police officer in our schools. He's a mentor, a role model, and someone who genuinely cares about every student he serves. His work is building stronger relationships between law enforcement and our youth that will benefit Shawano for years to come. Congratulations, Officer Thornborrow, and thank you for everything you do for our community!
